NATURAL SELECTION
Mother Nature can teach us a lot about design. Think of the Fibonacci spiral in an ammonite fossil or the pattern from the end grain of oak - the shimmering light reflective quality of mother of pearl. We have been employing natural products in our constructions & interiors for hundreds of years but perhaps it is only now we have realised the symbiotic relationship we have with products of natural origin within the biophilic principles of design today.
Rattan & Bamboo
Bamboo is sustainably produced and grown. As it is the fastest growing plant in the world it reproduces a large amount of CO2 and when cut it regrows quickly. In that way bamboo is a great alternative to the slower growing and resource-demanding hard woods.
Marble
Marble has been a prized material since the classical times and still holds high esteem in interior products of the modern age.
Natural Fibres
Jute, seagrass, sisal, hemp and maize are all naturally grown plants which yield fibres for use in basketry, rugs and cloth. All 100% natural, 100% biodegradable, 100% eco-friendly and 100% stylish!
